In honour of the duality that has made the Buddha-Bar brand a global phenomenon, this glittering, 1950s-styled East meets West extravaganza has been inspired by two of the most iconic films of the 20th century: Bertolucci’s The Last Emperor and John Huston’s Moulin Rouge.
For one night only Buddha-Bar London will star in its very own cinematic masterpiece, fusing the glamour and glitz of 1950s Paris, a period which saw the iconic Moulin Rouge undergo a remarkable metamorphosis, with the incredible events that would change mid-twentieth century China forever. It’s lights, camera, action as this Knightsbridge haunt unveils a production filled with fine food and champagne; spectacular amusements and jaw-dropping surprises.
The two floors of Buddha-Bar London will be transformed into completely separate areas - Dynasty and Forbidden - each one imbued with an atmosphere that is at once surreal and decadent. Buddha-Bar’s chefs have been hard at work conjuring up delectable menus that will include such mouth-watering delicacies as Seared scallop with yuzu and glazed shiso miso & crowned with caviar; Wagyu Fillet with shimeji mushroom, wafu sauce & truffle butter and Oven baked Canadian lobster with kimchi broth & mizuna salad. In keeping with the theme of the evening, courses will be accompanied by sake, whilst each party of four will also receive a complimentary bottle from one of the great French champagne houses to celebrate as the clock strikes midnight.
Complementing this dazzling culinary offering is a programme of entertainment that will again ensure all guests have an unforgettable immersive experience. A casino and hidden carnival-style fair, cocktail trolleys dispensing absinthe and champagne, a chinese quartet, a performance from Moulin Rouge’s very own infamous Diamond Dog Dancers and a balloon drop are just some of the many treats in store.
Add into the line-up a Master of Ceremonies who will direct proceedings on both floors and Buddha-Bar London’s celebrated DJs with a mixture of Asian and Parisian inspired beats and the scene is set for a truly extraordinary evening.
Tickets for Buddha-Bar’s Forbidden New Year’s Eve Spectacular are available now, priced from £80 per person. Tailor-made for parties of all sizes, the various options include complimentary car collection for tables of eight or more.
As demand is expected to be extremely high, early reservations are highly recommended.
